Counseling Approach

My approach to counseling is compassionate, collaborative, and client-centered. I draw from Person-Centered Therapy to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and supported. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we work to identify unhelpful thought patterns and develop practical coping tools that support emotional balance. I also incorporate Solution-Focused Therapy to help clarify goals, recognize strengths, and move forward with hope and direction.

When faith or Biblical wisdom is important to you, it can be respectfully integrated into the counseling process.

Areas of Specialization

I specialize in working with individuals and families impacted by addiction. When a loved one struggles with substance use, much of the focus is placed on them—often leaving spouses and family members feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and unsure how to help.

As the spouse of a recovering alcoholic, I bring both professional training and personal understanding to this work. Counseling can help you care for yourself, establish healthy boundaries, and understand how your choices can support healing. Family members can also learn tools that help rather than unintentionally harm, while gaining clarity around their role within the family system. My approach to counseling is compassionate, collaborative, and client-centered. My Story & Clinical Calling

After 22 years of marriage to my husband, whom I met in seventh grade, my life took an unexpected turn. One night made it clear that his drinking was out of control—and that moment began a journey I never planned but deeply needed.

What I thought was an effort to fix my husband became a journey of self-discovery. I realized I had lost myself in trying to control someone else’s addiction. Through a painful 15-month separation, therapy, faith, and a twelve-step journey, I began healing and discovering my true identity in Christ.

During this time, I was also in graduate school to become a clinical counselor while navigating heartbreak, verbal abuse, and the impact addiction had on our family. It was hard, but it was holy ground. God was working—even when I couldn’t see it.

My story includes restoration, but more importantly, it includes growth. Today, I am stronger, grounded in faith, and clear about my purpose. I am passionate about helping others who have been affected by a loved one’s addiction find healing, clarity, and hope.

If you’re here because addiction has touched your life, I want you to know—you are not alone. I understand, and I would be honored to walk alongside you as you move toward recovery and true healing.
